Overview

DESIGNED FOR PROFESSIONALS, MADE FOR EVERYBODY

The Therabody Thergun product line consists of four professional-grade, portable treatment devices. Engineered to treat sore lactic-acid-filled muscles and other muscle-related conditions, the Theragun product line has been used by professional athletes, chiropractors, and physical therapists around the world to help speed recovery. This third generation device was designed with the broader understanding that percussive therapy can benefit everyone. Whether seeking pain relief, an improved fitness regimen, or general wellness, these therapeutic devices have the versatility to suit the full spectrum of needs on a professional or personal level.

The challenge

ERGONOMICALLY SOUND
_

MINMAL designers were challenged to rethink the architecture of the original Theragun G2 to accommodate a longer battery life and updated components. As a product designed for both professional use and self-treatment, weight distribution and the ability to shift the position of the device for different modes of use were of critical importance. The soft interior loop of the handle was carefully considered to enable easy maneuvering of the device. The closed-loop, trilateral design balances ergonomic acuity with an iconic design language, and allows for several different grip positions.

The Theragun Mini was an entirely different challenge. Our designers were tasked with packing the therapeutic power of the other devices into a smaller formfactor for travel while still making sure the form was still easy to hold.

PROCESS

designed with intention

Understanding how the model interfaced with the body of the individual receiving treatment as well as the hand of the user was a critical part of the Theragun design process. Through the creation of multiple prototypes of weighted 3D printed models, we tested different iterations and refined the design. Each product in the family has a unique architecture and mode of use.
